Tesla's AI-only self-driving tech demonstrated

Elon Musk recently showcased Tesla's latest "Full Self-Driving" software in a live-streamed demo. Unlike its predecessors, this version relies solely on AI and neural networks trained on vast driving data. During the demo, the AI-powered software quickly handled turns, speed adjustments, and obstacles encountered during a joyride around Palo Alto, CA. It successfully navigated through construction zones, roundabouts, and bicyclists, even in previously unseen areas. When it attempted to enter a busy intersection, Musk only had to take control of the car once. FSD V12 marks a significant shift from earlier versions, which relied on programming logic and code. The new version is being tested globally by employees to improve through real-world AI training data.

AI on Alibaba Now Understands Images And Has Complex ConversationsAlibaba, the Chinese tech giant, has recently revealed two new open-source AI models, Qwen-VL and Qwen-VL Chat. These models significantly advance China's tech sector as they can understand images and have more complex conversations. Unlike ChatGPT and Bard, which read text, Qwen-VL and Qwen-VL Chat are “vision language” models that read images. While Qwen-VL generates captions for photos and provides answers to open-ended visual queries, Qwen-VL Chat compares multiple images and sustains dialogues. These models were released shortly after China's first AI regulations were out, which allowed for such releases, and amid the intensifying US-China rivalry for future AI dominance.
