Here are the games we’re most excited aboutSince 2020, game releases have thinned out, but what we’ve seen have been quality releases. Yet there's always that caveat suspended like a guillotine—the constantly pushed back release dates owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, here's a list of some of the fun games releasing this year from different publishers, that is, if Microsoft or Elon Musk doesn't buy them all.StarfieldNovember 2022Think Elder Scrolls, but set in space. Made by Bethesda, this is one of the biggest releases this year, scheduled for November 2022. After several pitches for games in universes such as Star Trek and Travellers, Bethesda finally decided on their own IP. Set in a distant solar system after uneasy peace between two mighty factions, you play space explorer to unearth humanity's greatest mystery. In classic Skyrim fare, you will have the freedom to explore the entirety of the created sandbox, though a lot of the world is under wraps and will be revealed during the course of the year.Evil Dead: The Game13 May 2022Let's look at something which has a more immediate release. Launching this month on Friday the 13th, comes Evil Dead: The Game. It's mainly a multi-player co-op and player versus player game set in the Evil Dead universe, featuring Bruce Campbell himself along with the rest of the cast. Here, you face off against demonic hordes in an open world with your trusty chainsaw. If that's not enough, you can play on the side of evil as the Kandarian demon to put an end to the good guys.Xenoblade Chronicles 329 July 2022The much awaited threequel to Xenoblade Chronicles is almost here. Sadly, only for the Nintendo Switch, but hey, here's your chance to pick up the new Nintendo Switch OLED and play through 1 and 2 of this role-playing game. Being targeted by two nations, Noah and his friends must journey to expose the true threat to the nations and end the cycle of violence once and for all. It features real-time RPG combat and introduces a new Ouroboros system, letting you interlink with your teammates to become a powerful entity yourself.Gotham Knights25 October 2022With the mysterious demise of Batman, crime has spilled over into the streets of Gotham. To take the caped crusader’s place, Batgirl, Nightwing, Red hood and Robin have to now step up to protect the city. While we have been waiting a long time for the next Rocksteady DC game, which is coming in the form of Suicide Squad, Gotham Knights will do nicely to fill that big fat DC void in our hearts.Forspoken11 October 2022What started as a tech demo for a brand new gaming engine spawned into the newest action role-playing game from Square Enix. Forspoken looks gorgeous, with some incredible magic that allows you to traverse terrain like a superhero. You play as Frey, who finds herself in the harsh world of Athia, where she manifests magical abilities that allow her to move fast and take on fearsome monsters.Hardspace: Shipbreaker25 May 2022; out of early access to be available as a full gameIn a sea of the same old action games, Shipbreaker is a unique sci-fi first person puzzle game. It lets you play an employee of the benevolent Lynx Corp. who has to work off a massive debt as a salvage operative to break down ships into sellable parts for credit. Fortunately, there's a galaxy full of space junk for you to break down. The most important element among the junk is the spaceship reactor, which is a race against time to deposit safely, failing which, there could be an epic meltdown. Sounds like a unique game with some beautiful game physics that bring it to life.ScornSometime in 2022Scorn comprises a first-person shooter set in a world inspired by legendary surrealist H R Geiger, most known for designing the Alien from the Alien film franchise and the engineers from Prometheus. There's very little known about Scorn, apart from it being a love letter to Geiger. It is replete with misty corridors filled with biomechanical bone-like structures, and eerie environments to give you ample amounts of creeps. It is being developed by a new game studio, Ebb Software, which seems to have a good handle on things, especially judging by the gameplay videos so far.Cyberpunk 2077 DLCOut, but hopefully flawless in 2022One of the most awaited games of the last decade was launched in 2020, but was unfinished and buggy at that time, so much so that it was pulled off Playstation stores, and relaunched recently. It’s still a mess on PC, but a better mess than earlier, with sparse updates and promises that never seem to be fulfilled.
