What does gaming on the blockchain mean?

Over the next few months, several crypto and NFT-based game projects are set to release

Blockchain-based games are getting a lot of press lately. This is mostly because of the kind of money early adopters are making on their investments. Investment, in this case, is both time and money. Players in the game have a chance to earn both crypto and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) which have great value in the open market. You might feel like you have missed out on several of them like Axie Infinity, Sandbox and Decentraland, but these are just the tip of the iceberg.

RaceFi

Who doesn’t love a good racing game? RaceFi democratises the whole racing game where everything from the tracks to the garages and cars can be owned by players in the game. The entire game is based on the Solana ecosystem, pegged to be the new Ethereum. Players can make profits by owning in-game property or by playing the game. The game will include racing against other players and AI. You don’t have to be great at racing to earn tokens; RaceFi will also support betting on races. The RaceFi token has already launched and is currently below a dollar. The game is set to launch sometime in 2022, after which the token should explode.

Illuvium

This is an open-world role-playing game that is sort of like a Pokemon type exploration. Players can catch and level-up creatures called Illuvials. These monsters can then be used to battle against other players to earn Ethereum. All game assets will be held as NFTs, and these can be traded on the game’s platform and on OpenSea. The game seems like a AAA title with killer graphics and a proper open world from the videos released. The playable version of the game is right now in beta, and you can register to play it before most of the world.

Bigtime

A multiplayer action Role-Playing Game (RPG), Bigtime is where you can explore and play across time and space. The concept is that you buy and own pieces of Space in the game, and within these Spaces, you can add and create whole worlds depending on the size. The first round of open sales for Spaces is already over. However, you can always wait for another drop or buy it from people who have invested. All of these are available from the Bigtime market, with small Spaces starting at $350.

The Walking Dead Empires

Perhaps one of the most recognisable zombie TV shows is ‘The Walking Dead’. Players can now participate and own NFTs related to the franchise through the game. You will have to scavenge, craft, and fight the undead to survive in the game. The developers are already selling big pieces of land in the game. This land will be used as a base, and players will have to make a base and protect the land from both zombies and rival players. Each plot of land can be subdivided and sold or maybe even rented out to other players. Considering this is backed by AMC and it is a recognisable franchise, there is a good chance early adopters will see a windfall of earnings when the game goes live.

Mirandus

This is another fantasy RPG set in a world with five-player-monarchs. Players can join one of the five monarchs to serve as a knight or set up a shop in one of the citadels. Or be brave and branch out on their own to fight monsters in the woods and dungeons. Mirandus is set to launch sometime this year, but you can already purchase assets from the game, including land, avatars, ships and docks. There is no doubt, once the game launches, these prices will explode. The game is being developed by Gala Games, which are a sort of Steam for Crypto gaming. Steam, for the uninitiated, is a platform where you can buy games from different developers.

Last Expedition

If you like First Person Shooters, then you will love Last Expedition. It is a AAA title that will put players in a hostile alien world. In this world, they will have to kill and be resourceful to survive. The game already has work-in-progress footage out that looks very impressive. The developers, Certain Affinity, have already worked on Call of Duty, World of Tanks and Halo in the past. Last Expedition will be out sometime this year. For now, hopeful players can only sign up for a newsletter that will let them know when registrations will open.

Guild of Guardians

A team-based dungeon explorer game where you have to build a team of guardians and use their unique traits to give you a leg-up while exploring dungeons and defeating monsters. Beating monsters in the game earns you loot, experience and special drops. The gameplay seems similar to games like Diablo. The most important thing about Guild of Guardians (GOG) is that it can play on the mobile phone. This makes the game instantly more viable in India than any other crypto game out there. While GOG is yet to launch, you can easily buy the token and also some perks directly from their website.

With the lofty aim of being the world’s Massive Online Collaborative Strategy game,Kaizen Corps is based on the Solana ecosystem. The players start by joining one of the factions, each with a mission to complete. The game beta is still not out; however, the developers have already sold 9,999 Kaizen Pilots, which have already been split into factions.
