Back after a hiatus, these seven Indian independent bands are back with tunes that are nostalgic and relevant

Indus Creed

Though founded in Mumbai in 1984 as Rock Machine, the name change came about in 1993, and they kept working on original music till they split in 1997. They regrouped in 2010 with a new lineup of tracks. Earworm: Pretty Child, Cry, Evolve

Zero

When this Mumbai band was formed as a result of an impromptu performance at IIT Mumbai's music festival Mood Indigo in 1998, little did they know they were going to be on the most popular rock music bands in the country. Before they disbanded in 2008. Only to do a reunion gig a year later. Earworm: Old Man Sitting on the Back Porch, Love Song, Hate in Em.

Joint Family

This nu-metal/metalcore band that came together in 2004, and climbed to iconic levels of popularity before they parted ways in 2014. A decade later, Joint Family made a comeback at Outrage Festival 2024 with a line-up with some new members Earworm: Juggernaut, Rebelution, The Bicycle Day.

The Original Gazeka

The new avatar of metal band Grammy Winning Effort that first got together in 2011 and took over the underground scene. After a hiatus of about a decade, the band is back with a new name and already released remastered tracks in 2026. Earworm: Midget Marathon, Keeper Of The Sun, The Roads.

Run It’s the Kid

Formed in 2014, this Delhi band melded folk and rock, shooting to fame with their moody, almost genre-bending music. They stopped releasing new music around 2016 but came back together with a new release in 2024, titled Hourglass. Earworm: Forgetting How to Swim, Love We're Made From Porcelain

Them Clones

This iconic Indian alternative rock band came together in 2000 in a bedroom in Delhi. They disbanded in the late 2010s but reunited in 2024 to perform with a new addition—Akshay Raheja (keyboards/samples)—after a hiatus of seven years. Earworm: Zephyretta, All About A Heartbreak, Speak When I'm Gone.

Motherjane

Formed in 1996 as a college band, this Kerala ensemble became the ethnic progressive rock band to watch out for before they disbanded in 2012. They reunited in 2024. Earworm: Fields of Sound, Blood in the Apple
